Most men who avoid conflict don't think of themselves as conflict avoiders.
They think of themselves as reasonable. Easy-going. Not the kind of person who makes a big deal out of things.
But here's what actually happens.
The thing you didn't say builds. The tension you sidestepped doesn't disappear – it goes underground.
And it comes out later. In resentment. In withdrawal. In an overreaction to something small that was never really about the small thing.
The man who avoids conflict tends to create more of it.
And in relationships especially, your partner would often rather meet your honest edge than your carefully managed peace.
Avoiding conflict rarely protects the relationship. It just delays the cost.
